Lockout/Tagout
Our Process
From on-site survey to full facility procedure development deployment, Steptron delivers machine-specific, visually engineered Lockout/Tagout procedures designed for real-world execution. With over 30 years of expertise, our controlled access methodology and on-equipment placards provide clear, standardized guidance to safely isolate and restore energy—supporting compliance with OSHA 1910.147 Lockout Tagout Standard while reducing risk.
Machine-Specific Procedure Development
Steptron develops machine-specific Lockout/Tagout procedures by thoroughly documenting each piece of equipment throughout your facility. Our surveyors capture critical asset information, identify all hazardous energy isolation points, and create detailed visual references that form the foundation of clear, equipment-specific procedures designed to support safer maintenance practices and OSHA 1910.147 compliance.

- Strengthens long-term program sustainability while helping safeguard employees, equipment, and corporate assets
STEP one
Initial Facility Survey
Steptron surveyors document each asset by capturing equipment details, location, unique ID, energy isolation points, and visual representations. Every machine is evaluated to identify both primary and secondary energy sources
The Steptron Initial Facility Survey helps EHS and safety professionals establish a clear, accurate foundation for a compliant and efficient Lockout/Tagout program. During this 1–2 day on-site assessment, our experienced surveyors document equipment, identify hazardous energy isolation points, and evaluate Lockout/Tagout requirements in accordance with OSHA 1910.147.
A sample machine-specific placard and tag set is also developed to demonstrate how visual procedures will be implemented throughout the facility, followed by a detailed deployment proposal and project timeline.
Key Benefits
- Creates a stronger foundation for long-term program sustainability and audit readinessilities to better plan budgets, timelines, and compliance initiatives before implementation begins.
- Identifies hazardous energy control gaps before implementation
- Improves project planning, budgeting, and timeline accuracy
- Reduces unexpected scope changes and unforeseen costs
- Supports OSHA 1910.147 compliance initiatives
- Provides a clear roadmap for facility-wide deployment
- Demonstrates how machine-specific placards and tags will function in your environment
- Helps standardize Lockout/Tagout procedures across equipment and departments
STEP Two
Procedure Development
Once your initial survey is complete, Steptron executes a full facility Lockout/Tagout deployment—documenting every asset, identifying all hazardous energy sources, and delivering machine-specific, OSHA 1910.147-compliant procedures installed at the point of use.
